This year FAME celebrated 12 years of providing youth of many socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with access to rigorous educational experiences, scholarships, instruments, intensive summer technology camps, cultural and artistic excursions, and much more.
Statistics indicate that children who participate in music, likely to earn higher grades and score better on standardized tests.
FAME is dedicated to bringing equity in learning to children who live in poverty and those who attend under-resourced schools. FAME is proud to be in the forefront of a renewed spirit and energy when it comes to young people, the performing arts, and education.

Your investment this year resulted in FAME positively impacting the lives of over 1500 youth
1100 hours: of academic tutoring in STEM, SAT Prep, organization and study skills
35 students: received scholarships for year round individual music lessons
Two Signature Summer Technology Camps: 74 rising 8th through 12th graders received intensive state-of-the-art music technology training. 2017 goal: 100 students. Partners: University of Maryland School of Music, Prince George’s County Government & School System.
80 students: attended songwriting workshop conducted by Grammy nominated, award winning singer, composer and producer Eric Roberson
In-school & after school assistance: included purchase, donation, maintenance, and repair of musical of instruments; and provided instructors, materials, equipment, and supplies
Music, Academics & Culture: 17 middle and high school youth participated in the FAME Jazz Band Program: year-round high caliber music & academic instruction. This year students performed at two major festivals, 10 events and received weekly one-on-one STEM tutoring.
Advocate for cultural arts education: Advocate for cultural arts education intergenerational Community Concerts and Events to educate families and communities on the importance of music education and cultural arts in the lives of our youth.
Two Spelling Bees: sponsored in Washington DC and Prince George’s County, to support and strengthen middle school students’ language arts/literacy skills.
