Vocal Workshop
Rising 7th thru 12th Graders
Students will learn many techniques, strengthen and build their vocal capacity, perform sight-reading/sight-singing exercises, collaborate with program participants and/or work independently to create an archival recording of an original composition or cover an existing work(s). Students will learn how to be intentional in their interpretation of lyrics and musical phrasing, creating a polished/refined performance product in the process Improve their execution of performance repertoire in the areas of classical arias/Italian art songs, jazz standards, pop, and theatre. The workshop culminates in live a performance open to the public.
FAME’s Summer Music Enrichment Programs take students’ musicianship to new heights and prepare them for greater academic success, college and scholarship eligibility, and job opportunities through:
- Elevating their listening, performing, improvising, composing, arranging, music reading and notation skills
Improved music and software literacy
Increased functional knowledge of the language and grammar of music
Increased enthusiasm for learning and appreciation of music through individual and group hands-on experiences
Training and mentoring by master instructors
Building their resumes and portfolios
Empowering students academically and socially so they make positive life choices
